Désertif'actions 2015: Climate Change and the Preservation of Drylands - Time to Act!'
This international civil society forum is organized by Centre d'Action et de Réalisations Internationales (CARI) under the motto ‘Climate change and the preservation of drylands: time to act!'. The event is expected to bring together stakeholders from more than 100 countries to share their concerns and build common positions on desertification and land degradation under a changing climate and its consequences. The conference will address the three themes of: desertification and land degradation; development sustainability in drylands – creating greater synergy between the three Rio Conventions; and a pluralistic and organized civil society – 'having a true impact and doing what needs to be done'. Désertif'actions 2015 will be preceded by preparatory meetings at the national level, and a multilingual online forum in April and May 2015. It will close with a day of cultural and scientific events in Montpellier, France, to raise public awareness on these issues.
