The newest issue of Mountain Research and Development (MRD)—Vol 36, No 3—is now available online and open access. Papers in this Open Issue explore a broad range of topics related to sustainable development in mountains worldwide: they analyze the potential for photovoltaic power generation in Tajikistan, the socioeconomic contributions of new highlander entrepreneurs in Switzerland, farmers’ perceptions of livestock farming in Norway, large-cardamom production in the Sikkim Himalaya, land use and land cover changes in Sagarmatha National Park and grazing intensity along an elevational gradient in Manaslu National Park, Nepal, changes in swidden agriculture in Myanmar, plant species composition in the remote Peochar Valley, Pakistan, forest assemblages in southwest China, visual assessment of pasture conditions in Kyrgyzstan, and knowledge for climate adaptation in mountains in national policies.
