The photo competition entirely dedicated to mountain photography, organized by the Kiku. International Mountain Summit has successfully reached the final stage. The topic “Mountain Faces” was pretty challenging for all photographers. The IMS Photo Contest is turning once again into a fix international appointment for all photographers.

It doesn’t matter if pictures are coming from Uzbekistan, Chad, Peru or has crossed 18.500km from New Zealand, photographers from all over the world have submitted their best shots to Brixen/South Tyrol. At the end 1700 photographers from 90 countries are competing for the Kiku Photo Award and the DJI Aerial Photo Award.

Until September 4th users have the opportunity to participate in the public voting process and can choose their favorite picture among the Top100 by clicking on the following link http://www.imsphotocontest.com/gallery. In the meantime a high-quality jury, including renowned professional photographers like Georg Tappeiner, Manuel Ferrigato and the Polish outdoor photographer David Kaszlikowski or the Swiss Robert Bösch, are working hard to define the winners.

It was 5th edition of this international competition. The IMS creators Markus Gaiser and Alex Ploner see this year’s edition of the IMS Photo Contest as a further piece of the IMS Mountain Experience Festival.

“Not only was a new category founded with the drone photography, but we have also kicked off the project Atem der Berge in connection with the competition “,happily declared the President of the Organizing Committee regarding the development of the competition.

The photobook entitled “Atem der Berge“ will be presented by the German editor Bruckmann at the Frankfurt book fair in October. This collection contains the best mountain pictures selected from the last editions of the IMS Photo Contest. It has to be considered a small tribute for the Kiku. International Mountain Summit, because during the 150-year-long history of the editor Bruckmann has never dared to start such an incredible photo book tackling the topic mountain.

„The topic mountain photography has still a great potential from our point of view” affirms the IMS cofounder Alex Ploner convinced. “We are preparing ideas for an international travelling exhibition. In our eyes South Tyrol can establish its position pretty well in this area.”

The award ceremony for both categories will be presented by Kiku and DJI and will take place on Saturday, October 17th during the IMS evening event „Mountain Xtreme“ in the congress center Forum in Brixen.

The IMS and the IMS Photo Contest are supported by the umbrella brand South Tyrol, KIKU, DJI, GORE-TEX, Raiffeisen, Brixen/Plose, Durst, Foundation Südtiroler Sparkasse and the Messner Mountain Museum.
