Third UN World Conference on Resilience in Rural Futures: Mountains, Drylands and Small Islands
The Conference aims to complete the assessment and review of the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action, adopt a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction and identify modalities of cooperation based on commitments to implement the new post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction.
The Conference will feature a working session on “Resilience in Rural Futures” that will explore opportunities for accelerating actions in promoting resilience of rural population particularly mountain communities and indigenous groups and rural livelihoods(agricultural and non-agricultural sectors). The session is scheduled on 15 March 2015 (10:00-11:30 AM), for more information, please see attached concept note.
In this regard, the organizers of the Working Session are asking if your government or organization can:
- Join them in organizing the session;
- Identify speakers from governments, civil society, community practitioners or indigenous peoples for the session;
- Join them in a preparatory discussion on strengthening rural alliances in mountain and other areas.
