La Rainforest Alliance (RA) es una ONG internacional dedicada a la protección de los ecosistemas y sus habitantes implementando buenas prácticas para la conservación sostenible de la biodiversidad. SmartWood (SW) es un programa de RA creado en 1989 para promover la implementación de la foresía sostenible.

El Coordinador Regional será el responsable de liderar y coordinar la implementación de las actividades de certificación de la en la region (Amércia del Sur). Implementará la estrategia de marketing para la región en relación con las ventas anuales y las metas de negocio.

The Rainforest Alliance (RA) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting ecosystems and the people and wildlife that depend on them by implementing better business practices for biodiversity conservation and sustainability. Companies, cooperatives, and landowners that participate in our programs meet rigorous standards for protecting the environment, wildlife, workers, and local communities.


SmartWood (SW) is a program of the Rainforest Alliance created in 1989; it is the oldest global forestry certification program and has been accredited by the internationally recognized Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). SmartWood"s mission is to promote the implementation of sustainable forestry worldwide. To accomplish this, SmartWood provides forest management and chain of custody certification services.


Position Summary:


The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight in coordinating and implementing SW certification activities in the region. In conjunction with SW"s overall strategy, s/he will implement the marketing strategy for the region in accordance with annual sales and business targets. S/he will provide technical guidance to consultants to effectively conduct SW certification services in the region. This position supervises three SW regional team members.


Responsibilities:



  • Develop, manage and market the SW certification business in South America (with the exception of Brazil);
  • Project Management, Certification Management and Quality Control of forest and chain-of-custody services;
  • Serve as the representative for SW in the region;
  • Oversee SW regional finance and accounting functions; and
  • Provide regional input as it pertains to policy development and technical improvements of SW certification systems.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelors Degree or Licenciatura Degree in forestry, natural resources or related field;
  • 3-5 years of managerial level field experience in forestry or rural natural resources management and/or economic development;
  • Proven experience to effectively market products or services; SmartWood and/or FSC certifications knowledge preferred;
  • Strong planning, analytical, and project management skills, with ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish & English;
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. MS Office and Internet); and
  • Willing to travel a minimum of 30% of the time.


Salary: Commensurate with experience.
