Population ecology of the Vicuña (Vicugna vicugna) at the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve, Arequipa - Peru: Baseline data for sustainable management

Thesis on the ecology and conservation of the vicuna in Arequipa, Peru. The goal of this study was to quantify key features of the population ecology of the vicuña and to consider implications of these characteristics for corral initiatives. Field work was conducted in the Central Andes within the Salinas y Aguada Blanca National Reserve (Arequipa, Peru) from April 25th to July 12th of 2002. I assessed group composition, density, and movement patterns of the vicuña, as well as the aggregative relationship to the distribution of water.
