Secretari@ Ejecutiv@ para la Secretaría del Mountain Forum

De acuerdo a la desición del Consejo Directivo del Mountain Forum, la posición de Secretario Ejecutivo, Secretaría del Mountain Forum, está siendo anunciada globalmente. La fecha final de aplicación es el 15 de abril del 2007.

El Mountain Forum es la principal red de intercambio de información sobre desarrollo sostenible en montañas. La red tiene operaciones en la mayoría de continentes del mundo, con el soporte de una secretaría global localizada en Kathmandu, Nepal.

Bajo el mandato global del Consejo Directivo del Mountain, el Secretari@ Ejecutiv@ coordina y facilita el trabajo de los nodos regionales asociados, apoyándolos globalmente en la difusión de temas de montañas y en la relación con el Mountain Forum.

Él/Ella recauda fondos para la Secretaría y sus funciones globales, prepara el plan anual de trabajo de la Secretaría, y, en coordinación con los nodos regionales, los reportes anuales. Él/Ella gestiona día a día el funcionamiento de la Secretaría y provee liderazgo y orientación a su equipo en como promover mejor el desarrollo sostenible en las montañas. Al momento, esto incluye la supervisión de un equipo comprometido de cuatro miembros en servicios de información, un oficial de desarrollo de programas, un asistente administrativo, practicantes, y consultores quienes son contratados ocasionalmente para asignaciones a corto-plazo.

La posición tiene sede en el ICIMOD, institución que hospeda a la Secretaría, en Kathmandu - Nepal. Él/La Secretari@ Ejecutiv@ debe reportar también al Director General del ICIMOD sobre la gestión administrativa y financiera de la Secretaría, sobre los servicios del ICIMOD como hospedante y administrador de las operaciones de la Secretaria según el MoU con el Consejo Directivo del Mountain Forum.

In accordance with the decision of the Board of Directors of Mountain Forum, the position of Executive Secretary, Mountain Forum Secretariat, is being advertised globally through several appropriate channels. The deadline for the submission of applications is 15 April 2007.

Mountain Forum is the premier global network for information sharing on issues of sustainable mountain development. The network has operations on most continents of the world, with support from a global secretariat office located in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Under the overall guidance of the Mountain Forum Board of Directors, the Executive Secretary coordinates and facilitates the work of the associated regional nodes, supporting global advocacy and public awareness about mountain issues and the work of the Mountain Forum.

He/she raises funds for the secretariat and its global functions, prepares the secretariat annual work plans, and, in coordination with regional nodes, the annual reports. He/she manages the day-to-day functioning of the secretariat and provides leadership and guidance to its staff in how best to promote sustainable mountain development. At present this includes supervision of a staff comprised of four information services staff, a programme development officer, an administrative assistant, interns, and consultants who are hired on an occasional basis for short-term assignments. The position will be based at ICIMOD, the secretariat"s hosting institution, in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The Executive Secretary must also report to the Director General of ICIMOD on administrative and financial management since ICIMOD serves as the host and manages these operational aspects for the secretariat through an MoU with the Mountain Forum Board.
