AGU Berkner Travel Fellowship (February deadline)
The Lloyd V. Berkner Travel Fellowship provides support to Earth and space scientists to present research at AGU-sponsored or co-sponsored meetings. The support includes registration fee, travel, accommodation, and daily expenses during the meeting. Eligible applicants must be AGU members under the age of 35 who are residents of countries designated by the World Bank as “low” or “lower-middle” income per capita. USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific Project Government Training Financial Support Program (rolling deadlines)
Under a five-year contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that runs through September 2016, AECOM International Development (AECOM) is implementing the USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific Project (“Adapt”) to assist eligible countries to gain improved access to finance for climate change adaptation. The Adapt Project has established a Government Training Financial Support Program, targeting government officials from 13 eligible countries in Asia (Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam). International Climate Protection Fellowships (15 March 2015 deadline)
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s fellowship programme allows future leaders to spend a year in Germany working on a research-related project of their own choice in the field of climate protection. Up to 20 fellowships will be granted, funded under the Federal Environment Ministry’s International Climate Initiative. Read more about these climate fellowships here.
TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme (31 March 2015 deadline)
The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), are sponsoring this programme in which researchers from sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa, are assisted in making a ‘Cooperation Visit’ to an institute in Germany. The aim of the visit is to discuss research collaboration with German scientists with the ultimate goal of developing longer-term collaboration, perhaps through other DFG programmes.
