I am a MSc from the University of Amsterdam. I did research projects in Tenerife and in Ecuador. Here, I give an overview of the projects I did:
(1) "Cold resistance in three tropical Draba (Brassicaceae) species". In this research project the effect of elevation on the morphology of three tropical alpine Draba (Brassicaceae) species from Ecuador has been investigated. With the use of transplantation experiments we were able to investigate the plants morphology in response to two different elevations (3000 m and 4000 m). In addition, we have investigated the role of acclimation Draba. Therefore, we employed the electrolyte leakage methodology to measure the degree of cell damage at a certain (sub-zero) temperature.
(2) "Hybridisation between Pericallis species on Tenerife". In this research project plant hybridisation between three endemic species of Pericallis (Asteraceae) on Tenerife has been investigated. Combining both morphometric and genetic data (using AFLPs) the occurrence of hybrid populations was proven. The manuscript that resulted from this research project is currently being prepared for publication.
(3) "Species Distribution Models as a tool for Conservation Biology". This essay provides a review of predictive species distribution modelling with the accent on its role and importance for conservation biology. Additionally, the performance of various spatial models is evaluated.
At the moment I am working as a assistent coordinator at the University of Amsterdam where we are developing a new Joint Master programme between the University of Amsterdam and a University in
