First World Conference on Food Security

From 29 September to 2 October, I will celebrate World Food Security Conference in Noordwijkerhout (Netherlands ) . This is an event organized by the University of Wageningen and the prestigious publishing house Elsevier, the largest publisher dedicated to the medical and scientific literature . This conference has invited 600 scientists from 65 countries and aims to be a meeting point for sharing experiences and knowledge in order to improve in the field of food security .

Issues such as food production , access to food, the pros and cons relating food and the environment , economic and social objectives ... the goal is to achieve global food security given the growing demand for environmental sustainability and challenges such as the need to feed a population that will reach 9,000 million people in 2050 .

Many issues are urgent and require science to move rapidly to cope with all the problems that are living and those that lie ahead. At the World Conference on Food Security is intended to achieve objectives such as understanding the economic engines , social , biophysical , technological and institutional aspects of current and future global food security. The list of topics to be treated is very large , global and local analysis of food security , the implementation of policies to achieve food security , sustainable food production , strategies to learn from the past and and understand the future , strategies that can be adopted in order to feed the population of 2050 , crop losses and food in general , the labeling , the pursuit of quality and sustainability in food production , etc. .

The conference is a combination of plenary and parallel sessions are enabled cafe called workshops where participants will be able to interact and discuss the issues to be addressed and they will present renowned speakers , great experts in food security and sustainability environmental issues will be discussed as local and national policies being carried out to achieve the objectives , the role of international investments that are made in farmland and agriculture, urban agriculture models and their impact , benefits and drawbacks.

Also discuss the relationship between food production and water sustainability , the use of insects or other biological systems in agriculture , the food crisis , geographical differences and how they affect the performance of food production , will discuss the current geographical map as far as food production and supply concerns .
