Dear colleagues,

It is time again to give you a brief update on the Global Mountain Biodiversity (GMBA) activities in 2003, and wha will be planned for 2004:

... The Moshi-La Paz Research Agenda on "Land use effects on tropical and subtropical mountain biodiversity" was published recently in the DIVERSITAS newsletter No. 5. It is the first result of two GMBA workshops in Moshi, Tanzania 8/2002 and La Paz 8/2003. A synthesis book will be published next year. The Research Agenda and further info can be downloaded at:

... GMBA became a major scientific partner of the Convention on Biological Diversity (Montréal) for the theme "MountainTechnical and Technological Advice meetings 8 & 9. Download at:

GMBA has scheduled the following international workshops in 2004 on specific mountain biodiversity themes:
