The New York Declaration on Forests: One Year of Business Progress and the Pathway to Paris

The New York Declaration on Forests, formalized at the United Nations 2014 Climate Summit, codifies the willingness of 180 governments, companies, indigenous community networks, and civil society organizations to halve natural forest loss by 2020 and end it by 2030.

One year on, many of the Declaration's 41 endorsing companies are already taking action toward their deforestation liabilities - as demonstrated, amongst others, by Forest Trends' benchmarking website www.supply-change.org and its new report "Firm Commitments: Tracking Company Endorsers of the New York Declaration of Forests".

A little over 100 days before the international climate negotiations in Paris, this event, convened by Supply Change, will bring together key business and civil society actors on deforestation to discuss progress made, the role of corporate leadership and collective action as well as the potential for forests to feature at the heart of a strong climate agreement - and what must to be done to turn this potential into reality.
