Sustainable Development Goals aim “to leave no one behind” stresses UN Special Adviser Amina Mohammed

Tuesday, 14 April, 2015 - 09:52

Amina Mohammed, Special Adviser on the post-2015 development agenda for the United Nations, talks to AGRA FACTS journalist Rose O’Donovan about the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including the Zero Hunger Challenge.

The eradication of poverty remains the “overarching objective”, Mohammed insists, adding thatsustainable agriculture and food security have an important role to play in the process. She calls for a more holistic approach to development – one that “looks at root causes” such as the improvement of health systems, empowering women and addressing inequality  in society. Mohammed concedes that there is still a lot of “unfinished business” in meeting the Millennium Development Goals and calls on the international community to invest further and create partnerships to face the “complex challenges ahead”.
