Calls for Applications:
5th Global Environments Summer Academy (15 January deadline)

 
The Global Diversity Foundation is pleased to announce GESA 2015: the 5th Global Environments Summer Academy, to be held in collaboration with the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) at the University of Bern, between 27 July and 14 August 2015. The Academy invites applications from English-fluent candidates in the arts and humanities, natural sciences and social sciences – as well as those working in advocacy, law, media or policy – who focus on the relationship between environment and society.  Read more about Summer Academy applications here.
 

2015 Kinship Conservation Fellows (26 January deadline)

The Kinship Conservation Fellows is an environmental leadership program that emphasizes market-based solutions to environmental problems. Kinship’s global network of two hundred and ten fellows in forty-eight countries and on six continents is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and dedicated to effective conservation. Fellowships provide month-long in-residence programming delivered by a faculty of global experts who work closely with each cohort of fellows.  Read more about Kinship Conservation Fellowships here.

 

African Climate Change Fellowship Program - Phase 3 (30 January deadline)

A call for the African Climate Change Fellowship Program (ACCFP) Phase 3 has been launched. With funding from International Development Research Centre-Canada (IDRC), ACCFP provides experiential learning, education, and research and training opportunities to African professionals, researchers and graduate students to enhance their capabilities for advancing and applying knowledge for climate change adaptation in Africa. ACCFP is managed by the Institute of Resource Assessment at the University of Dar Es Salaam (IRA-UDSM) and implemented in partnership with START.  Read more about the ACCFP call here.

 


AGU Berkner Travel Fellowship (February deadline)

The Lloyd V. Berkner Travel Fellowship provides support to Earth and space scientists to present research at AGU-sponsored or co-sponsored meetings. The support includes registration fee, travel, accommodation, and daily expenses during the meeting. Eligible applicants must be AGU members under the age of 35 who are residents of countries designated by the World Bank as “low” or “lower-middle” income per capita. USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific Project Government Training Financial Support Program (rolling deadlines)

 

Under a five-year contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that runs through September 2016, AECOM International Development (AECOM) is implementing the USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific Project (“Adapt”) to assist eligible countries to gain improved access to finance for climate change adaptation. The Adapt Project has established a Government Training Financial Support Program, targeting government officials from 13 eligible countries in Asia (Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam). International Climate Protection Fellowships (15 March 2015 deadline)

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s fellowship programme allows future leaders to spend a year in Germany working on a research-related project of their own choice in the field of climate protection. Up to 20 fellowships will be granted, funded under the Federal Environment Ministry’s International Climate Initiative.   Read more about these climate fellowships here.

 

TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme (31 March 2015 deadline)

       

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), are sponsoring this programme in which researchers from sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa, are assisted in making a ‘Cooperation Visit’ to an institute in Germany. The aim of the visit is to discuss research collaboration with German scientists with the ultimate goal of developing longer-term collaboration, perhaps through other DFG programmes.  Read more about the TWAS-DFG Programme here.

Call for Abstracts:

5th International Summit on Hurricanes and Climate Change (15 March deadline)

 Registration and call for abstracts is open for the  biennial International Summit on Hurricanes and  Climate Change. The Summit will be June 9-14, 2015  at Chania, Crete, Greece.
